Are these happening in your relationship?:
Couples and Trauma
Couples call for many reasons, often describing the behaviors listed above. Sometimes there is a clearly identified trauma history (deployment, auto accident, assault, childhood abuse, medical challenges) and other times not.
Feeling reactive, or flat and anxious or depressed does not mean, in and of itself, that you have PTS; however, many clients bring these issues into therapy due to effects on their marriage or other relationships. Often there is a connection to current relationship problems and unresolved trauma.
These challenges can be addressed and worked through in therapy: changes in beliefs and behaviors are typical outcomes in couples or family therapy with trauma survivors. Communication improves, tensions decrease.
We will talk about what's going on now in your relationship and your life, and changes you and your spouse or partner want to create for yourselves or your family.
